Water meditation

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, feeling your belly rise and fall with each inhale and exhale.

Bring your awareness to your feet. Feel the cool press of the ground beneath them, or the sensation of your socks or shoes. Imagine roots growing down from your feet, delving deep into the earth, connecting through to your local water body.

Now, shift your awareness to your breath and imagine yourself becoming a drop of water. You are no longer a person, but a single drop within a vast network.

You are a bead of water nestled amongst countless others, maybe in a pool of water, a cloud or a river. You dream of transformation, a yearning for the sea, for land, for cycles. You sense a downpour coming, and the surface of the land begins vibrating with movement. You erupt with movement too, joining a billabong overflowing, becoming a life-giving creek. You snake and wind for kilometres, to a place where sunlight spears through the gum trees, warming your core. You rush over smooth stones, nourishing ancient roots, reflecting the endless blue sky and passing moons until you reach the ocean.

The relentless sun intensifies, drawing you skyward. You transform into vapour, weightless once more, dancing on warmer winds. You rise, rejoining countless others, now forming a colossal storm cloud, waiting to feed another lake, forest, river, or reservoir. Maybe waiting to become a pot of tea, to travel through your body, and back again.
